P-Jay Fidler's artistic practice centers on reimagining familiar subjects through unconventional perspectives. His work explores themes of impermanence, mortality, and the tangible remnants of human existence — imagery that ranges from the surreal to the ambiguous, engaging with ideas of creation, existence, absence, and transformation.
Background. Fidler grew up in a rural farming area in central California before pursuing formal training at the Art Center College of Design. He's been self-employed as a traditional and digital artist and illustrator ever since, and is based in Los Angeles, where he also co-runs the production studio BARNFIRE.
Film & motion. That same practice has carried into moving image — blending traditional craftsmanship with generative AI tools to make narrative and experimental short films. Recent work includes Hallucination Station, a psychological-horror short told from an AI chatbot's point of view, and The Painter and the Pup, a Crocs-commissioned short. His channel Visual Vinyl brings classic album covers to life as animated video, released on a weekly pace.
Publications. His work has been featured in SPIN and PLAYBOY magazine, among other publications and galleries internationally.
